Security Manager
Introduction
Once you have published your sessions via SESSION MANAGER, you
will need to prepare them for your students to take the tests/reviews
using SECURITY MANAGER. You will access SECURITY MANAGER through
the web. The address will be:
http://gquiz.gc.maricopa.edu/qm_username/security.dll
You will be asked to login. Your username and password will be
given to you when your account on GQUIZ have been created. Many
of the tasks needed to done for the instructor and students should
already be done if you have properly requested access for your class
through the Innovation Center. If not, contact Mike Aragon in the
Innovation Center (53462).
Groups, Participants and Sessions
SECURITY MANAGER manages four main areas: groups, participants,
sessions, and schedules. Groups are created per class and section.
Participants or students are then assigned to the proper group.
If you have notified the Innovation Center that your class will
be using Perception, this step will automatically be done as students
register for the class. From SECURITY MANAGER you can see the sessions
that have been published to the server.
Scheduling
Once you have verified that your session has been published, you
will want to schedule your session for your students. To setup a
scheduled time for your class to take a particular session you began
from the GROUP screen.
From the GROUP screen select the proper section(s) and then click
the ASSIGN button. This will take you to the following screen.
Select the session from the Session name drop down menu. Type in
the Schedule Name (this is what the students will see) in the Schedule
Name text box. Select whether or not you want to limit attempts
to login and how many attempts to allow. If you use this feature
with a group you must select the Create schedule for each participant
for this group option. (Keep in mind that if you set the attempts
to 1, and a student incorrectly logs in the first time he has used
up his one attempt and you will have to reschedule that student
to have access to the test. My suggestion is to leave this option
off and instead use the limit time feature.
To limit the time that the session can be accessed by the students,
click the Limit Time option. Select the date and time the schedule
start and stops remembering that Security Manager uses military
time (i.e. 4:00pm = 16:00). Once you have made the proper selections
click on the ADD button.
You will then be taken to the Schedule screen where you can verify
your scheduled session. If you need to make a correction, simply
select the proper schedule and click the EDIT button and make any
necessary corrections and click on the UPDATE button. To remove
a schedule session, select the proper schedule and click on the
DELETE button.
