Introduction to Session Manager
Once you have created your questions within Question Manager, you
can put them into a "session" with Session Manager. "Session"
is the name used in Perception for a test. Sessions are held in
session databases. A single session database can hold many sessions.
Creating a Session
Select the File menu and choose New Database
Define the name
of the database (try to keep the name descriptive yet somewhat short).
Do not use spaces in the name of the database.
Selecting the question database to use with your
new session database.
You will then be prompted to use the default database or select
a different one. If the default database is not correct, click on
Yes and navigate to the correct question database. This is a critical
step. You can also select the database from the Tools menu by selecting
Options.
Creating a new session with the Wizard
Once the session database is created and you've selected the question
database, you can now begin to add sessions to it. Choose New Session
from the File menu. Select the "with the Wizard" option
and click on Next.
In step 1 of the wizard add the session's name, the author of the
session and an introductory message for the session (the introductory
message is optional). Click on Next.
Step 2 of the wizard allows us to select whether or not we want
to display feedback, to record answers in the answer database, to
display the questions in random order or choose a template for our
session. Click on Next.
In step 3 we can now began to add questions to our session. Click
the Add.. button. You can choose to add questions from the question
database you selected. Choose to add All of the questions from a
particular topic or Randomly select a set number of questions or
a Single question from any topic. You can insert as many question
references as you like by clicking the Add
button each time
one has been inserted. Once you've finish with step 3 click on Next.
Step 4 allows us to give a pass/fail message based on the percentage
scored. This step is optional. Click on Finish.
Adding a block to a session.
Once the session is created we can now add additional blocks to
the session. To place the new block after another block select the
block it should come after and then choose Add Question Block
from the Block menu. To place the new block before the first block
select the Control Block and then choose Add Question Block
from the Block menu.
After you've added the block you are then prompted to title the
Block name, select whether to Disable feedback, Shuffle questions,
Use a different template or add an Introductory Message for the
block you've added. Click the OK button.
The next step is identical to step 3 of the Wizard. We can choose
to add questions from the question database you selected. Choose
to add All of the questions from a particular topic or Randomly
select a set number of questions or a Single question from any topic.
You can insert as many question references as you like by clicking
the Add
button each time one has been inserted. Once you've
finish with step 3 click on OK.
Tryout a Block
Select the block to tryout and from the View menu select Tryout.
You can only tryout one block at a time and cannot tryout an entire
session.
